On my desk, a thin client to try out in the shop.
"Hey! What's this neat thing??""Well, it's called a thin client, it's a computer without any movable parts."
"Sorta like a Mac hey?""...actually, no... what?"
"Sorta like a Mac, it's all one piece and it's real tiny and it's like a Mac.""...actually, no. Nothing at all like a Mac."
"Well what I mean is that it's all thin and the screen is attached.""...um, well it can be mounted on the backside of a monitor, but the monitor is still separate, so it's not like a Mac. What it really is like is a PC without any movable parts, no fan and the processing happens on the server, so you can't actually log into this thing, although it will seem like it, but it's really that you're logging into a session on the server."
"But what I'm saying is that it's small, like a Mac.""Ok, you're right, it's small and exactly like a Mac."
Diana will kill me for agreeing.
